Union Position: No. Job Summary The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in assisted living. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a charge nurse. Responsibilities Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned resident. Depending upon location, may assist the resident in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment; provides range of motion and passive exercises. Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience; assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate. May aid providers and nursing staff with procedures, collect non‑invasive body fluid specimens, and gather vital signs. May administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse within state regulations. Documents outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicates changing condition, medication follow‑up, and care‑related concerns to the charge nurse. May provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Assists and documents with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. Delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident per the care/service plan. May need to be knowledgeable of providing care to tenants with dementia. Is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and use Personal Protective Equipment. Provides 24‑hour care; may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Shift assignments based on nursing area and location. Committee meeting attendance may be expected. May direct students during training. Qualifications High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred but not required. Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in assisted living preferred. Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. Successfully completes yearly department‑specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits each year. Minimum of 12 hours continuing education required annually. Maintains all department‑specific required certifications. When applicable, is certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry. May be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of a valid driver’s license; must be medically qualified to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
