Purchasing Operations Supervisor

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Purchasing Operations Supervisor to manage purchasing activities and supplier relationships while leading a team of three employees responsible for expediting and resolving open orders. The role combines hands-on procurement duties with team leadership, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely product delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and develop a team of three employees on open order expediting and resolution
• Oversee purchasing activities and relationships with assigned third-party suppliers
• Review, approve, and process purchase orders and stock orders within established timelines
• Analyze backlog trends and supplier performance to identify root causes and improvement opportunities
• Develop and maintain reporting on backlog status, trends, supplier performance, and team productivity

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or related field
• 3+ years of purchasing or buying experience
• People leadership, supervisory, or demonstrated team leadership experience
• Ability to coach and develop team members and manage competing priorities
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills
• Experience managing supplier relationships and resolving supply chain issues
