Job Overview Office of Residence Life Residence Hall Director (Professional Services Specialist 4) – 12‑month, live‑in professional staff employee central to the operation of a residence hall or area housing approximately 250 – 1,000 residents. Supervised by the Managing Assistant Director and Director of Residence Life. Responsibilities
- Manage total operation of assigned residence hall(s).
- Select, supervise, train, and evaluate student staff including Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants, and Community Assistants.
- Provide developmental programming, judicial intervention, and advisement for residents.
- Perform administrative tasks, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, enforce university policy, discipline, participate in an on‑call system, and serve on committees integral to residence life.
- Create an environment conducive to academic excellence and personal development, fostering community among residents.
- Work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays; on‑campus residency; travel to off‑campus or other campus locations as required.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and at least one year of professional experience in housing and residence life or related student affairs position.
- Master's degree in a related field may substitute for the one year of required experience.
- Preferred: experience with residence hall student development, facilities operations, and residence life programs in higher education.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership skills.
- Computer literate.
- Negotiated annual salary: $55,142.18 (Step 1). Salary for internal applicants based on union negotiated calculations.
