Respiratory Therapist, Nights, StaffFlex Contract

Job Overview Location: 1000 Waterman Way, Tavarez, Florida 32778 (Night shift, full time, StaffFlex contract for 13 weeks, $47.60/hr plus differentials, open availability). Recent Respiratory Therapist experience required. Responsibilities Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene. Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery. Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria. Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed. Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress. Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results. Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols. Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress. Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x‑ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress. Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required. Intubations and airway management for all population served (preferred). Ventilator management for all populations served (preferred). Arterial line placements (preferred). Education Associate degree (required). Must graduate from an approved respiratory care program. Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (required). State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (required) OR NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (required) OR State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) (required) OR NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) (required). Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) (preferred). S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification (preferred). Physical Requirements Physical requirements are detailed in the linked document.
