Position Overview Position Classification: Assistant City Attorney II to Sr. Assistant City Attorney III Section: Contracts Location: 900 Bagby, Houston, TX Workdays & Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM* (subject to change). Qualifications Education: Requires a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an American Bar Association accredited college of law. Requires basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Experience Assistant City Attorney II: Minimum 4 years of practice, active Texas State Bar membership, eligible for Federal court admission, Texas license current. Senior Assistant City Attorney I: Minimum 8 years of practice, active Texas State Bar membership, eligible for Federal court admission, Texas license current. Senior Assistant City Attorney II: Minimum 13 years of practice, active Texas State Bar membership, eligible for Federal court admission, Texas license current. Senior Assistant City Attorney III: Minimum 18 years of practice, active Texas State Bar membership, eligible for Federal court admission, Texas license current. License Must be a member of the Texas State Bar on or about the first day of employment. Proof of J.D. and membership is required. Preferences Exceptional contract negotiation and drafting skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with federal, state, and local agencies. General understanding of municipal procurement statutes. Proficiency with Office 365 suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, OneDrive Business, SharePoint, and electronic legal research tools such as Westlaw Edge, Practical Law, and Drafting Assistant. Willingness to work extended hours as needed. Preference for eligible veteran applicants meeting all qualifications.
