Resident Manager
Position Summary The Resident Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation, safety, and oversight of a Clean and Sober Housing Program serving individuals recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The Resident Manager fosters a safe, respectful, recovery-oriented living environment that promotes accountability, personal responsibility, and healthy independent living. The Resident Manager ensures residents comply with house rules, program expectations, and applicable policies while supporting their recovery through encouragement, structure, and collaboration with treatment providers and community partners. This position serves as the primary on-site representative of the program and plays a vital role in maintaining a therapeutic and recovery-focused culture.
Program Oversight Provide daily oversight of all assigned clean and sober housing units. Maintain a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused living environment. Ensure compliance with all house rules and program expectations. Conduct resident orientations and review house policies upon admission. Promote positive peer interactions and conflict resolution. Monitor resident participation in required recovery activities. Conduct regular room inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety. Ensure proper care and maintenance of program property. Coordinate resident move-ins, transfers, and discharges.
Resident Support Build professional, respectful relationships with residents. Encourage personal responsibility and healthy decision-making. Provide guidance regarding independent living skills. Assist residents with problem-solving while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Encourage participation in treatment, recovery meetings, employment, education, and other recovery-supportive activities. Observe behavioral changes and report concerns promptly.
Compliance and Reporting Maintain accurate documentation of resident activities, incidents, and program compliance. Complete daily shift logs and required documentation. Document rule violations, behavioral concerns, and corrective actions. Immediately report emergencies or significant incidents to the Director of Adult Services. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and agency policies. Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement activities.
Community Engagement Act as the primary representative of the facility, maintaining positive relationships with neighbors and external stakeholders. Promote community awareness and understanding of the program's mission and impact. Address residents and community concerns with professionalism and transparency.
Safety and Security Conduct scheduled and random facility safety checks. Ensure residents comply with curfews and visitor policies. Monitor resident accountability through sign-in/sign-out procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies, medical concerns, behavioral crises, and safety issues. Coordinate emergency response when necessary. Maintain emergency supplies and safety equipment. Ensure fire safety procedures and evacuation plans remain current.
Drug and Alcohol-Free Environment Maintain a zero-tolerance environment for alcohol and illicit drug use. Assist with random drug and alcohol screening as required. Monitor for signs of relapse or substance use. Report suspected violations immediately according to agency policy. Participate in intervention procedures when appropriate.
Facility Operations Monitor inventory of household supplies. Coordinate maintenance requests and repairs. Report safety hazards promptly. Ensure common areas remain clean and organized.
Minimum Qualifications: A four-year degree in a social or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university. At least two years of work experience in a related field. A minimum of two years in a supervisory position. Substitution Clause: In lieu of academic education, six years of work experience in a related field may be substituted, provided two of those years are in a supervisory role.
Collaboration Work closely with counselors, case managers, peer recovery specialists, probation/parole officers, and community partners. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and supervision. Participate in treatment team meetings when requested. Communicate resident progress and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred. Experience Minimum of two years working with individuals impacted by substance use disorders, mental illness, homelessness, criminal justice involvement, or related populations preferred. Experience or knowledgeable about residential treatment, recovery housing, case management, behavioral health, or supportive housing preferred. Experience with crisis intervention is highly desirable.

Physical Demands The employee must regularly: Walk through the clean and sober facilities. Climb stairs when applicable. Stand for extended periods. Bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and reach. Perform light housekeeping inspections. Operate office equipment and computers. Drive agency or personal vehicles when required. Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 10 pounds); occasionally lifts supplies/equipment. Occasional standing/walking/driving. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. May perform emergency care.

Working Conditions Clean and sober/TLP housing environment. Overall management to include scheduled work hours and live-in oversight. Frequent interaction with individuals in early recovery. Exposure to behavioral crises situations. Occasional travel between program sites.
