With a strong company culture built on a family atmosphere, we define success by how we impact the lives of the people around us.Position SummaryThe Shop/Yard Laborer - Sandblaster & Industrial Painting is responsible for supporting fabrication operations by preparing, blasting, cleaning, painting, and handling fabricated steel products and equipment. This position assists with material movement, shop organization, loading and unloading, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesYard OperationsLoad and unload trucks using forklifts, and other material handling equipment.Organize and maintain the fabrication yard and storage areas.Assist fabricators, welders, and fitters as needed.Identify and stage materials for production.Maintain clean work areas and remove scrap materials.Perform general housekeeping throughout the facility.Surface PreparationPrepare steel for coating by:DegreasingSolvent cleaningGrindingWire brushingSandingMaskingOperate abrasive blasting equipment to SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards.Inspect blasted surfaces for cleanliness and profile.Maintain blasting equipment and replace worn nozzles, hoses, and blast media as required.Industrial PaintingMix coatings according to manufacturer specifications.Apply primers and finish coats using:Airless spray equipmentConventional spray gunsBrushes and rollers when requiredMeasure and verify wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT).Maintain paint equipment and clean spray systems after use.Ensure proper curing times and environmental conditions during coating application.Equipment OperationOperate forklifts safely.Operate pressure washers and air compressors.Perform routine inspections on tools and equipment.Report equipment defects promptly.General ResponsibilitiesFollowing all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.Wearing and maintaining required personal protective equipment (PPE).Participating in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.Performing other duties as assigned to support business operations.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED preferred.Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, fabrication, industrial, or labor-intensive environment preferred.Experience using common hand tools and power tools is preferred but not required.CompetenciesAbility to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Reliable attendance and punctuality.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.Physical RequirementsLift up to 75 pounds occasionally.Stand and walk for extended periods.Climb ladders and work from scaffolding or aerial lifts.Frequently bend, kneel, squat, and reach overhead.Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.Wear respiratory protection for extended periods.Work EnvironmentManufacturing shop, fabrication facility, and outdoor yard environments.Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, welding operations, and varying temperatures.Required use of appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, and steel-toed footwear as applicable.Benefits Designed to Work for You:Free HSA health plan or traditional PPO401(k) with generous company match (Safe Harbor)Dental, vision, and optional coverage like accident & critical illness insuranceHSA and FSA accounts to save on healthcare costsCompany-paid Life, Long Term Disability, and AD&D insuranceConfidential support for mental health, family matters, legal concerns, and more through our Employee Assistance ProgramDiscounts on gyms, shopping & entertainmentHealth benefits kick in fast – first of the month after 30 daysTime OffPaid Time OffPaid HolidaysBereavement LeaveEqual Employment OpportunityTransTech Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
