Mechanic

The Mechanic is responsible for performing tasks to maintain company equipment and vehicles. The Mechanic's tasks are performed in a repair shop, equipment yard, or in the field at customer sites, roadside, or other environments.

The Mechanic reports to the Fleet Manager and has a non-exempt FLSA status.

Required qualifications include a vocational/technical school diploma or certificate, a valid driver's license with a good driving record, the ability to drive company vehicles, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card. The Mechanic must also be able to communicate professionally and effectively, diagnose and repair equipment and/or vehicles issues, collect, track, and analyze data points, and possess excellent mechanical repair skills. Proficiency in metal working, welding, cutting, fabricating, and analytical and problem-solving skills are also required. The Mechanic must be able to read service and repair manuals and schematics, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Proficiency with computer diagnostic equipment and software is necessary.

Preferred qualifications include two or more years of experience in a repair/service environment, a commercial Class A-CDL driver's license, and ASE, Annual Federal Inspection, and/or other industry certifications.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit, kneel, bend, squat, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day, frequently lift, push, pull, or move 50 pounds or more, travel 30% - 50% by regular and/or CDL-licensed vehicle, withstand exposure to various weather conditions, work around water, and walk, stand, and move through diverse types of terrain. The Mechanic must also be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.

Duties and responsibilities include demonstrating core values, maintaining on-road and off-road assets, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems, repairing or replacing malfunctioning parts and systems, planning and establishing timetables to complete repairs and maintenance, visiting job sites for in-field repairs and inspections, testing drive vehicles to confirm safe and proper operation, assisting in custom builds and performing routine and preventative maintenance, adhering to safety procedures, recognizing and reporting hazardous conditions or behaviors and defective equipment, operating company-vehicle safely, conferring with supervisors to make decisions, participating in company meetings, trainings, and certification programs, adhering to company policies and procedures, communicating with management and technicians to schedule maintenance and report status of maintenance, and performing other duties as assigned.
