Tacoma Screw Products is a distribution company that sells industrial supplies, fasteners and tools to contractors, small and large businesses and individual retail customers since 1946.

This is a full time role that is currently based out of our Tacoma Warehouse located at 2001 Center Street, Tacoma WA 98409. This role will primarily be days, however, flexibility will be required as nights and swing shifts may be occasionally scheduled.

A day in the life:

The Tractor-Trailer Driver will safely and efficiently deliver and pick up products from various locations across Western Washington. These locations may include The Port of Tacoma, our warehouse locations, retail stores, and occasionally our customers. This role will service the greater Tacoma area and will require some flexibility with scheduling.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
• Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations.
• Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
• Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area.
• Inspects loads before departure to ensure safety standards are met
• Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
• Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to Shipping Supervisor.
• Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 70 pounds at a time.

Required Skills/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Washington Class A CDL and have an outstanding driving record
• Able to read, write, and communicate effectively as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform the physical demands of this job
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Warehouse experience is desired but not required
