Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the NBRC Valid respiratory therapy license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications ACLS or PALS certification (AHA/ARC) Additional certifications and licenses may be required for this position Summary A Certified Respiratory Therapist delivers respiratory interventions and support for patients with acute respiratory problems and routine care for chronic respiratory disorders. They assist in the treatment and management of patients with asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and other pulmonary conditions, administer respiratory treatments, monitor equipment, and educate patients and families. Essential Work Functions Assist in implementing and adjusting patient treatment plans under the guidance of physicians or RRTs Examine and interview patients with breathing and/or cardiopulmonary disorders Perform diagnostic tests such as measuring lung capacity or collecting blood/sputum samples Administer respiratory treatments, including aerosol medications and oxygen therapy Set up and monitor equipment to ensure accurate oxygen delivery Observe and record patient status and progress Educate patients and/or family members on proper medication and equipment use Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of CRT practice Required Essential Skills and Abilities Critical thinking, service excellence, and effective interpersonal communication Reading and writing in English; comprehension of written and verbal instructions PC skills proficiency Physical abilities: stationary position, movement of equipment up to 100 lbs, pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal: work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism Technical/Motor: fine manipulation during procedures, use of department equipment Mental: handle frequent contact with general public, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without close supervision, manage irregular schedules and sustained concentration Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication skills Other Duties To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
