Responsible for following lab safety standards.Job Description:The Keiser Lab in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University is seeking a highly motivated and organized Laboratory Manager to oversee day-to-day laboratory operations and support ongoing neuroscience research. Our lab investigates molecular and circuit-level mechanisms underlying brain function and behavior using mouse models, molecular biology approaches, and behavioral neuroscience techniques.Compensation rate: $48,600.00 per yearEssential Duties:Manage laboratory inventory, ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies and reagentsMaintain organization of lab spaces, equipment, and shared resourcesOversee and maintain the mouse colony, including breeding coordination, genotyping logistics, record keeping, and compliance with institutional guidelinesEnsure compliance with all IACUC and EHS protocols, safety regulations, and institutional policiesAssist with protocol development, updates, and documentation for animal and molecular experimentsCoordinate maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and liaise with vendors/service engineersTrain and assist lab members (students, technicians, and trainees) in standard lab procedures and animal handlingSupport molecular biology and wet lab experiments (e.g., tissue collection, genotyping, PCR, sample preparation)Assist with behavioral neuroscience experiments and data collection as neededMaintain accurate records of experiments, protocols, and colony management systemsFoster a collaborative, supportive, and organized lab environmentContribute to lab meetings, planning discussions, and workflow optimizationDesired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Molecular Biology, Psychology, or a related fieldPrior experience working in a wet lab environmentComfort and willingness to work with mice (handling, basic husbandry, or related experience required)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a teamExcellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindsetAbility to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks in a dynamic research environmentExperience with mouse colony management and/or in vivo researchMolecular biology skills (e.g., PCR, genotyping, cloning, Western blotting, tissue processing)Experience with behavioral neuroscience assaysFamiliarity with neuroscience research concepts or rodent models of brain function and diseasePrior experience training or supervising undergraduate researchersInterest in developing independent research projects or contributing to manuscript preparationWorking Environment:Regular activities require ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, to be able to prioritize tasks; to manage conflict: to interact in a team environment: and to communicate effectively to exchange accurate information.Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and laboratory subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position, operating computer and other office productivity machinery; required to move a moderate distance to perform work.Frequently moves up to 25 pounds for various needs.May be required to wear personal protective equipment before entering laboratories such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes and respirator.Department Statement:Each year since 2016, ASU has been named the most innovative school in the nation, recognizing the university's culture of groundbreaking research and partnerships, as well as its commitment to helping students thrive in college and beyond.
