OTA | Occupational Therapy Assistant - PRN

Join a compassionate healthcare team in the Midwest region as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) on a PRN basis. In this role, you will support Occupational Therapists by assisting in the development and implementation of therapeutic programs aimed at helping patients regain physical and mental stability.

Essential Responsibilities

• Adhere to organizational mission, vision, and values while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Foster effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
• Perform duties within the scope of practice as defined by certification standards.
• Demonstrate proficiency in patient care through adherence to unit competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Assess patient needs accurately and contribute to the creation, review, and maintenance of comprehensive care plans.
• Provide care to patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics, aiming to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Educate patients on their care plans and therapeutic activities.
• Complete timely and precise documentation in accordance with healthcare policies.

General Responsibilities

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the therapy team and patient care objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory or management duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education aligned with certification requirements at the time of issuance.
• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the appropriate state board.
• Valid BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider obtained within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
• Driver's license and auto insurance meeting state requirements if the role involves driving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar healthcare environment is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Fundamental understanding of Occupational Therapy principles.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements

This role involves medium work, including occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent standing or walking for 26-50% of the workday. Accommodations may be provided as needed.
