Position Summary

Seeking an experienced nurse to join the Float Pool in a long-term care setting. The role involves working with respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients and supporting various medical units.

Primary Responsibilities

• Float between multiple units including the Respiratory Care Unit and Respiratory Step-Down Unit.
• Provide care in the Medically Complex Rehabilitation Unit with cardiac monitoring, Chronic Care Unit, and the Medical, Rehab, Respiratory Unit at the designated campus.
• Conduct IV starts, administer drips and blood, perform EKGs, med titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, and various wound care procedures.
• Responsible for Trach care, suctioning, catheter care, and central line dressing.
• Participate in nurse-specific procedures and protocols, ensuring patient safety and adherence to healthcare standards.

Experience Requirements

• Must have 1-2 years of nursing experience, particularly with respiratory/vented patients.
• Prior experience in travel nursing is required.
• Nurses do not manage ventilators; this task is handled by respiratory therapists.
• Experience in a medical environment that is not traditionally Med/Surg is beneficial.

Unit Details

• Respiratory Care Unit: 36 beds.
• Respiratory Step-Down Unit: 38 beds.
• Nurses will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless specific to the unit.

Certifications and Compliance

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Flu vaccinations are mandatory unless a valid medical declination is provided. Personal or religious declinations are not accepted.
• Orientation takes place every Monday, where the manager will review profiles for final decisions.

This role requires flexibility, a commitment to high-quality care, and the ability to adapt to the needs of various units, with a particular focus on respiratory health.
