Nursing Clinical Coordinator

The College of Nursing Clinical Coordinator supports clinical education, skills development, and practicum experiences for students enrolled in the online MSN, DNP and PGC programs. This hybrid position collaborates closely with the University Director of Clinical Education, Executive Program Director, faculty, and clinical partners to ensure high-quality clinical learning experiences that meet programmatic, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Coordinator provides leadership in clinical placement oversight, preceptor engagement, student competency assessment, and FNP skills laboratory experiences. While the majority of responsibilities may be performed remotely, the position requires an onsite presence in Colorado Springs approximately once every five weeks to support FNP skills labs, immersion activities, faculty collaboration, and student competency evaluations. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Education Leadership Collaborate with College of Nursing leadership, faculty, and the clinical operations team to ensure achievement of program outcomes and clinical competencies across a wide geographic domain. Facilitate the coordination, approval, and ongoing evaluation of student clinical placements and preceptorship experiences across multiple states. Monitor student progression and clinical performance to ensure readiness for advanced practice responsibilities. Analyze clinical placement and student outcomes data to recommend improvements that support student success, retention, certification preparedness, and program quality. FNP Skills Lab and Immersion Oversight Provide leadership and oversight for FNP skills laboratories, simulation activities, clinical competency assessments, and immersion experiences. Maintain regular onsite presence at the Colorado Springs campus approximately every five weeks to support laboratory instruction, competency validation, and student engagement activities. Collaborate with faculty to develop, evaluate, and continuously improve hands‑on learning experiences that align with current primary care and advanced practice standards. Assist in evaluating student performance during skills labs, simulations, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), and immersion activities. Clinical Partnerships and Compliance Develop and maintain productive relationships with preceptors, clinical agencies, healthcare organizations, and community partners. Ensure clinical experiences comply with state board regulations, accreditation standards, certification requirements, and institutional policies. Participate in clinical site evaluations and quality assurance activities to maintain excellence in practicum education. Support affiliation agreement development and renewal processes in collaboration with university departments and clinical partners. Faculty, Student, and Preceptor Support Provide consultation and training for faculty, students, and preceptors regarding clinical requirements, documentation systems, competency expectations, and program policies. Support implementation of clinical curriculum initiatives and evidence-based educational practices. Serve as a resource for resolving complex clinical placement, preceptor, and student issues. Hybrid Work Expectations Perform administrative, coordination, and collaborative responsibilities remotely within established business hours, 8‑5 CST. Travel to Colorado Springs approximately every five weeks for scheduled skills labs, student immersion experiences, faculty meetings, and related program activities. Additional occasional travel may be required to clinical sites, professional meetings, or university events. This is a hybrid position with remote work as the primary work modality. Regular onsite attendance at the Colorado Springs location is required approximately once every five weeks to support FNP laboratory instruction, immersion activities, competency assessments, and program operations. Qualifications Education and Experience: Minimum Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution. Active, unencumbered RN license in the United States. Active APRN license with national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Minimum of five years of nursing experience. Minimum of two years of nurse practitioner clinical practice experience. Minimum of two years of experience supporting, coordinating, teaching, or evaluating nurse practitioner clinical education. Experience working in online and/or hybrid learning environments. Ability to travel to Colorado Springs approximately every five weeks. Preferred Colorado RN and/or APRN licensure or eligibility for Colorado licensure. Five or more years of FNP practice experience. Experience overseeing FNP skills labs, simulation, OSCEs, or immersion experiences. Supervisory or academic leadership experience in graduate nursing education. Experience with accreditation, curriculum evaluation, quality improvement, and multi‑state clinical partnerships.
