CNC Lathe Setup

We are looking for a precision-minded CNC Lathe Setup Operator to join our team. This isn’t just a "button-pusher" role; we need someone who understands the "why" behind the machine. You’ll be responsible for taking a job from a blueprint and a pile of tooling to a finished, high-quality part.

If you have a sharp eye for detail, a solid grasp of G-code, and at least two years of hands-on setup experience, we want to talk to you.

salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Complete Machine Setup: Perform full setups on CNC Lathes (2-axis or multi-axis), including installing collets, chucks, and specialized work-holding.

• Tooling & Offsets: Select, sharpen, and preset tools. Load tools into the turret and establish tool offsets and work coordinates.

• Program Verification: Read and interpret G-code/M-code. Perform dry runs and "first-article" inspections to ensure the program is running safely and accurately.

• Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) to verify part dimensions against blueprints.

• Troubleshooting: Identify and correct machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, or dimensional drift.

What You Bring to the Table

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in CNC Lathe setup (turning).

• Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.

• Math Skills: Firm understanding of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry for calculating offsets.

• Independence: You can look at a setup sheet and get the machine running with minimal supervision.

• Tools: Ownership of basic machinist hand tools and measuring equipment is a plus.
