Description:
The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury.
This role requires performing high-quality CT procedures according to established protocols in a timely manner.
Maintaining production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures is essential.
The technologist must demonstrate an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and actions to be taken if the estimated dose exceeds set reference levels.
Proper use of point of care testing for obtaining creatinine levels is also required.
Effective communication with patients to ensure the correct exam is performed and to assess the patient's ability to tolerate the exam is critical.
Preparing the patient for procedures involves positioning, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment, and setting exposure factors.
Protecting patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements and infection-control protocols is mandatory.
Maintaining the equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards is necessary.
The role includes screening individuals to ensure safety when entering the department.
All relevant documentation, including requisition/chart, patient history, and consent forms, must be obtained and verified.
Medical imaging records must be maintained in the appropriate system in accordance with department policies and standards for timely interpretation.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality services in compliance with regulatory standards and demonstrate professional behavior, even under stress.
Continued education and knowledge of appropriate care for all age groups is expected.
The candidate should also be capable of serving as a preceptor for new team members.
Taking call when required is an integral part of this role.
