Fort Bend County Water Control & Improvement District No. 2 is seeking a Water Production Operator II/III to help deliver safe, reliable water service to the Stafford community. Under general supervision, the Water Production Operator II/III performs skilled work in the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and quality control of the District's public water system and associated production facilities. This role is responsible for operating pumps, motors, valves, and chemical feed systems; monitoring treatment processes; collecting and recording operational data; performing routine and preventive maintenance; and helping ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements. The position also plays an important role in troubleshooting equipment and process issues to maintain dependable daily water production. Ideal Candidate

They bring solid technical judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret readings, respond to changing plant conditions, and take corrective action when needed. Successful candidates are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, communicate clearly, and demonstrate a commitment to regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement. Candidates at the Operator III level should also be prepared to take on more advanced process control responsibilities and help mentor less experienced staff.

EXPERIENCE:
- Operator II: Two (2) years related experience and/or training in operating a surface water treatment or ground water plant; or equivalent combination of water related education and experience preferred.
- Operator III: Four (4) years related experience and/or training in operating a surface water treatment plant or ground water plant; or equivalent combination of water related education and experience.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess one of the following (or ability to obtain within 12 months of:
- Valid TCEQ Class C (or higher) Surface Water Operator License*
- Valid TCEQ Class C (or higher) Groundwater Operator License**
**Operators holding a Groundwater license must take appropriate Surface Water course(s) to operate the District's Groundwater Under the Influence (GUI) treatment facilities as approved by the TCEQ to support cross-certification. Supplemental Information
SALARY:
Operator II (Production/SWTP): $25.42 - $34.25 ($52,874.43 - $71,234.80)
Operator III (Production/SWTP): $30.51 - $38.14 ($63,457.89 - $79,333.07) BENEFITS: We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:
- Retirement: 7% employee contribution to the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS), with a generous 2:1 employer match and 8-year vesting.
- Paid Time Off: 11 paid holidays plus one personal day annually. Vacation accrual increases with tenure (10-20 days/year), along with 10 sick days per year.
- Longevity Pay: For years of service.
- Health Insurance: District-subsidized medical coverage.
- Optional Benefits: Dental, vision, long-term disability, and deferred compensation (457b plan).
- Short-Term Disability: Provided at 60% of salary for up to 90 days.
