Shift SupervisorOverview Pay: $68,000 - $85,000 Annually AM and PM Shift Summary: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of our state-of-the-art vertical grinding mill and cement terminal, ensuring high-quality production and outstanding customer satisfaction. Daily responsibilities include the proper operation, monitoring, and maintenance of milling and support equipment. The Shift Supervisor also maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the facility. This role performs technical assessments related to material quality, maintains accurate inventory levels, and oversees all associated logistics and documentation. This position is responsible for the housekeeping of all responsible areas and equipment. The Shift Supervisor requires daily interaction with internal and external customers and stakeholders.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Supervise and coordinate the activities of shift personnel to ensure safe and efficient operation of the grinding mill and cement terminalMonitor production processes of cement grinding, equipment performance, and quality control measures to ensure adherence to standards and specificationsTroubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production flow.Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulationsTrain, mentor, and provide guidance to shift staff to enhance their skills and performanceCollaborate with other departments, such as safety and quality assurance, to optimize production processes and resolve cross-functional issuesMaintain accurate production records, shift reports, and documentation in accordance with company policies and proceduresImplement and enforce safety protocols, including conducting safety meetings, promoting awareness, and investigating incidents or accidentsOperate and monitor plant processes through the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), using real time process data, alarms, trends and equipment status to maintain safe, stable and efficient productionParticipate in shift handovers, communicating key information and priorities to incoming supervisors and team membersContinuously seek opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and operational excellenceOperate mobile equipment as requiredOperate hand, power and specialized tools as requiredGlobal Responsibilities:Regular attendance and physical presence at work are essential functions of this position.This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needsQualifications:Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:High School diploma or equivalent requiredValid driver's license requiredKnowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial environmentKnowledge of cement and concrete products preferredExperience:3-5 years experience in a supervisory roleExperience operating cement grinding facility or similar facility preferredExperience in railroad operations preferredExperience in bulk powder terminal preferredIndustrial work environment experience preferredStrong technical aptitude and understanding of cement production processes, equipment, and machinerySkills/Abilities:Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and manage a diverse teamSolid problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach to addressing operational challengesProficient computer skillsProficient in Microsoft SuiteExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and conciselyAbility to learn applicable product quality and safety standardsKnowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations in industrial settingWorking Conditions:Operation within a fast-paced environmentHigh heat environment, confined space entry, possible gas exposure, heavy industrial environmentExposure to plant environment with dust, noise, and varying temperaturesNoise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires hearing protectionPersonal protective equipment (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fall protection, powered air purifying respirators, etc.) requiredWorking at heights with exposure to elementsCommitment to safety protocols and OSHA standards in industrial settingsPhysical Requirements:Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and armsOccasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusWalking, climbing and standing on uneven, muddy or frozen job sites in both daylight and after darkFrequent use of stairs, use of fall protection, operation of equipment (AEWP, manlift, company truck), connecting hoses, sampling trucksMust be able to frequently bend to obtain samplesAbility to perform maintenance duties in tight spacesMust be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipmentMust be able to sit and drive for extended periods of timeMust be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards, and jobsites as necessaryMust be able to lift at least 50 pounds several times a dayBenefits Information At Ozinga, we care about the well-being of our team members both in and out of the workplace.
