Coatings Inspector

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Perform visual and technical inspections of coating systems pre- and post-application
Verify surface preparation compliance (ISO 8501, SSPC standards)
Inspect coating thickness using gage measurements (DFT)
Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports
Ensure adherence to project specifications and industry standards (NACE, ASTM, ISO)
Communicate findings to project managers, contractors, and clients
Maintain inspection records and quality documentation
Recommend corrective actions for non-conformances

Required Qualifications

NACE Level 2 Certification (Coating Inspector) – current and valid
Minimum 3–5 years of coatings inspection experience
Proficiency with inspection equipment (DFT gages, surface profile gages, etc.)
Strong knowledge of coating standards (NACE, SSPC, ISO 12944, ASTM D3276)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments (when applicable)
Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

NACE Level 3 Certification or higher
Experience with QAQC software and digital reporting tools
Familiarity with API, ASME, or other industry-specific standards
Experience in oil & gas, marine, infrastructure, or manufacturing sectors
Bilingual capabilities
