OTS Field Technician

Location King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, United States, 19406 Position Summary The Timken Power Systems, Philadelphia Gear Brand is seeking an Onsite Technical Services Technician responsible for serving customers by providing technical support in the on‑site repair and/or component replacement of Philadelphia Gear and/or Brand X equipment, including Marine Reduction Gears with various prime movers such as motors, engines, and driven equipment (pumps, compressors, generators, fan impellers). The technician also troubleshoots equipment problems, occasionally trains customer personnel, and may serve in a project supervisory role for larger OTS projects involving millwright services, lifting equipment, alignment services, etc. The role is strictly technical advice/support and project supervision, not hands‑on “wrench turning.” Responsibilities Locate causes of equipment malfunctions by visually inspecting and listening to equipment or by using diagnostic equipment. Determine scope of repair and/or replacement parts by supervising disassembly and evaluating questionable components. Oversee repair of equipment to design specifications and ensure proper operation upon completion. Prepare service reports for each job in a timely manner and submit timesheets, expense reports, and corrective action forms within prescribed timeframes. Travel extensively to U.S. locations, foreign countries for international support, and marine vessels for critical equipment on U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships. Take a supervisory role with subcontractors during broader OTS projects. Complete at least 40 hours of training each year through PG/Timken University or other company‑sanctioned training vehicles. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Physical ability to walk, stand, climb, lift up to 25 pounds, crouch, crawl, and work on elevated platforms, catwalks, offshore rigs, etc., with hearing and vision requirements met. Must obtain/maintain safety certifications such as BOSIET, OSHA‑10, OSHA MARITIME, DBIDS, TWIC, and others as required. Training: at least 40 hours of annual training. Experience with on‑site repair, troubleshooting, and project supervision of mechanical or marine equipment.
