Credit Analyst II/III
Washington Trust Bank
Be part of something growing. Washington Trust Bank established its Tacoma Financial Center in August 2025 as part of its continued expansion in the South Sound. Today, our 14-person local team provides commercial, small business, mortgage, retail, private banking, and wealth management services to clients throughout the region. As a Credit Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting relationship managers and clients while working alongside an experienced team dedicated to delivering exceptional local banking expertise. Washington Trust's privately held structure and decentralized credit model set us apart. Rather than routing decisions through distant corporate centers, we empower local teams to make informed credit decisions close to our customers. For Credit Analysts, this means greater visibility, stronger partnerships with lenders, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on client relationships and business growth. In addition, private ownership means that the money stays here, in local communities with local clients. Position Summary As a Credit Analyst, you will partner closely with Commercial Relationship Managers and experienced credit professionals to evaluate credit opportunities and support sound lending decisions. You will analyze financial information, assess borrower risk, prepare credit presentations and financial models, and contribute to the ongoing monitoring of commercial loan relationships. This role offers the opportunity to develop deep commercial credit expertise while working directly with local decision-makers and relationship teams. Location Onsite work required. Hybrid work option available. Essential Functions Partner with Relationship Managers to analyze credit requests, assess risk ratings, support problem loan reporting, and complete other credit administration requirements. Review business financial statements, tax returns, and other financial information to evaluate borrower performance and creditworthiness. Prepare written credit authorizations and recommendations in accordance with Bank policies and procedures. Develop financial models, projections, and customized spreadsheets to analyze commercial borrowers and prospects. Prepare financial statement spreads and presentation materials used in credit analysis and loan decisions. Monitor existing credit relationships to ensure required documentation, covenant compliance, and ongoing risk assessments are completed. Perform compliance and risk management responsibilities as required. Support department projects and initiatives as assigned. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications Three or more years of commercial credit analysis and underwriting experience. Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. Experience building and working with financial models and advanced Excel-based analysis tools. Understanding of commercial lending practices, loan structures, and credit policy. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of service and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and business lines. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and other business applications.
