Electrical Engineer - Battery Cell & Battery Management Systems (Indefinite US Work Authorization)

Crown produces and sells a broad range of forklifts, batteries, chargers, automation and fleet management technologies that are revolutionizing the material-handling industry.Job Posting ExternalJob Responsibilities:Serve as Engineering’s lithium-ion battery subject matter expert, responsible for cell selection, testing, modeling, and Battery Management System (BMS) algorithm development. Responsibilities include defining cell requirements, test programs, data analysis workflows, model development, and SoX algorithms. This role is central to specifying, validating, and integrating battery systems into Crown products.Operate with strong technical judgment and independence, contributing cross-functionally and potentially guiding engineers or technicians. Reports to a Chief Engineer, Project Leader, or Group Leader with minimal supervision.Key tasks include:Own electrical, thermal, lifecycle, and safety requirements for battery cellsDefine and execute characterization, aging, and abuse test programsDevelop data analysis workflows and translate results into requirements and modelsBuild and maintain cell models; support module and pack modelingSupport thermal modeling across cells, modules, and packsContribute to BMS architecture (sensing, control, protection)Collaborate with software on SoX, diagnostics, and protection functionsPartner with mechanical, systems, controls, safety, and supply chain teamsSupport supplier reviews, test plans, and qualificationMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field5+ years of battery systems experience (Salary will be commensurate with experience)Strong knowledge of lithium-ion cells, testing, and BMS fundamentalsExperience with requirements, test plans, and technical specificationsProficiency in data analysis and technical communicationFamiliarity with MATLAB/Simulink or similar toolsStrong interpersonal and analytical skillsAbility to travel up to 20% (overnight)Valid driver’s license and passportPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in a relevant fieldExperience with cell characterization, SoX modeling, and abuse testingKnowledge of BMS architecture, sensing circuits, and safety-critical systemsExperience in industrial, automotive, or motive power battery systemsFamiliarity with battery safety and regulatory standardsVisit YouTube to learn more aboutCrown Equipment – Defining the Future of Material HandlingWork Authorization:Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only.
