Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack, you will develop, maintain, and scale both the user-facing web applications and the core backend APIs that power our cutting-edge products. You will bridge the gap between our real-time data pipelines and intuitive user interfaces, ensuring a seamless experience for our users.

• Develop and maintain responsive front-end applications and the robust backend APIs that support them.
• Implement real-time data streaming features to visualize dynamic data on maps and dashboards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Backend, Data Science, and DevOps teams to integrate AI models into the user experience.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle—from coding and code reviews to deployment and feature monitoring.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code across the entire stack.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot bugs, and assist in root cause analysis for production issues.

What You Need

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience across the full stack.
• Solid proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, TypeScript) and backend languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Rust, Go).
• Experience handling real-time data on the frontend (e.g., WebSockets, SSE) and managing application state.
• Good understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and caching layers (e.g., Redis).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and modern development workflows (Git).
• Able to leverage AI coding assistants to increase velocity while fully understanding and taking ownership of all code you commit.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with web-based mapping and visualization libraries (e.g., Mapbox, MapLibre).
• Experience with real-time audio consumption workflows, including Opus decoding, browser audio rendering APIs, and managing multi-channel live audio streams via LiveKit/WebRTC.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and basic Kubernetes concepts.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures or streaming systems.
• A deep interest or background in aerospace, aviation, or autonomous systems.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $120,000 - $150,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
