Senior Project Manager - Energy Transmission and Distribution

To meet these challenges, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team, seeking talented engineers and project management professionals eager to make a meaningful impact in the energy transition space. As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead a dynamic project team of engineers through all phases of high voltage transmission, substation, and distribution projects. Your role will involve managing projects from initial concept through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final close-out while ensuring alignment with client expectations. Prepare and update financial forecasts, project schedules, and essential reports regularly to track project performance. Facilitate project meetings and ensure accurate documentation of discussions, decisions, and action items for team clarity. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring that their needs are understood and addressed promptly. Monitor project progress to identify risks, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards while implementing necessary mitigation strategies. Manage project communications effectively, responding to client inquiries and offering timely updates. Promptly inform stakeholders of any potential budget or schedule issues and address significant project risks or challenges as they arise. Oversee administrative tasks related to procurement, changes, invoicing, and overall project status to maintain project momentum. Coordinate the engineering design and quality review processes, ensuring that deliverables meet all standards and expectations. Lead the resolution of any field issues, adhering to relevant codes and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with both regulatory and non-regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Assist with permitting, municipality interactions, and resolving any abutter concerns that may arise during project execution. Manage the contractor selection process, including RFP issuance, bid analysis, and award recommendations. Pursue business development opportunities with potential and existing clients to drive project growth. Support Jacobs' operational and business development teams in crafting proposals and materials for new ventures. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or an advanced management/business degree. Bring a minimum of 7 years of experience managing electric power projects involving high voltage transmission, substations, or distribution. Demonstrate EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and contract management experience. Have in-depth knowledge of managing high voltage projects from concept through commissioning. Experience in leading multi-disciplinary project delivery teams, integrating various engineering disciplines and contractor scopes. Proficiency with project management tools and software widely used in the utility sector. Exhibit strong independence in work habits as well as the ability to lead collaborative efforts across various teams and levels. Have a solid command of Microsoft Office Suite, along with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Showcase exceptional presentation skills to convey technical concepts effectively. Possess proven abilities in verbal and written communication, negotiation, and team consensus-building. Familiarity with general project management practices pertinent to the utility industry. Be willing to travel to project sites and engage in client meetings as needed. Preferred Qualifications: PMP Certification is a plus. Experience with environmental regulations and permitting, especially in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Have held previous roles in Program or Project Management related to HV Substations and Transmission Lines for Investor-Owned Utilities in the U.S. Hold an engineering degree and possess a FE or PE License. Experience in construction, commissioning, and startup phases of projects.
