Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac PCU RN with at least 2 years of cardiac progressive care experience and NC/compact RN license for a 13-week day shift assignment.

Job Details

• Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit with 30 private beds, providing care 24/7,
• Focus on cardiac patients including CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement,
• Secondary focus on respiratory patients including COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management,
• Patient ratios of 1:4 with drips or BiPAP, otherwise mostly 1:5,
• Rooms remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD),
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM,
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed,
• Nurse Assistants available 24/7 and RN secretary support from 7a-11p,
• Uses Epic EMR,
• May float to any Cone Health campus as needed,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• Cardiac PCU experience required and must be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios,
• Charge RN experience preferred,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed),
• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, peripheral line and PICC line management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, procedural sedation administration, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management,
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required,
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams preferred,

• Provide direct cardiac and respiratory nursing care within a progressive care unit setting,
