PurposeOversees service operations within the dealership to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.ResponsibilitiesSchedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledgeAssists with the development and training of service personnel and completes periodic and annual performance reviews of service staff, along with monitoring monthly efficiencies and productivity reportsCommunicates, enforces, and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfactionMonitors service sales on a monthly basis to ensure achievement of budgeted sales and profit goalsParticipates in the development and execution of the Corporate Service Marketing PlanAssists in customer clinics, field days, and related promotional events as necessaryReviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billingSubmits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit; coordinates with Corporate Customer Support Manager and Corporate Aftermarket Manager on any issues to resolve them in a timely mannerEnsures all departmental tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working orderManages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this positionMay assist the Corporate Aftermarket Manager and Corporate Customer Support Manager in developing processes and procedures and to develop and follow and annual Service Department budgetExperience, Education, Skills and Knowledge3+ years experience in Service Department operationsAbility to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functionsAbility to write and speak effectively to individuals and groupsFamiliar with John Deere and competitive productsAbility to analyze and interpret internal reportsAbility to work extended hours and weekendsExcellent customer service skillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent experiencePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain in stationary positions for extended periods, frequently use hands and arms to operate tools and equipment, and perform repetitive motions. The position involves regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds, as well as bending, kneeling, crouching, and working in various positions, including overhead. Strong visual ability and the safe operation of tools and machinery are essential, along with regular communication via telephone and email.
