Aqua Aerobics Instructor

Water Aerobics InstructorUnder the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator/Program Director and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of Southwest Florida, the Water Aerobics Instructor will be responsible for the delivery of safe, effective and physically appropriate group water exercise classes.Essential Functions:Staff is expected to act professionally and dress according to the requirements: approved swimsuit, jacket, shirtArrive promptly for shift. Reports to work at the scheduled time and works as scheduledFollow the format of the class type and description to be taughtThe Water Aerobics instructor shall agree to be ready for class to start on time, finish on time and shall agree to schedule his/her time for set up and take down necessary for efficient class performanceEnsure that classes are safe and within industry standards and guidelines.Exercise instructors are responsible for their own music and agree to use music suitable for a family settingBecome familiar with class participants; learn names, their health concerns and their physical limitationsMaintain constant supervision of participants during class.Direct all pool maintenance concerns to Aquatics Director immediatelyEnsure all participants wear appropriate swim attire and footwearMake sure all equipment is put away correctly following your shift.Instructors are expected to find their own substitutes if they are not work their scheduled shift and communicate the substitute to the supervisor in a timely mannerAttend regularly scheduled, mandatory staff meetingsUtilize time clock and monitor timesheet. Bring any corrections to supervisor within a timely mannerParticipate in YMCA-sponsored special events and activities when possibleProvide a positive role model for members and guestsResponsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.All other duties as assignedQualifications:Must be 17 years of age or olderSuccessfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association's policies on background screeningExcellent verbal and written communication skillsRefrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice, and dispensing or endorsing any and all commercial health products especially nutritional supplements, vitamins, performance enhancing substances, and pain relievers.Certifications and Training Requirements:CPR for the Rescue Professional/ First Aid/AED Certifications requiredLifeguard CertificationCertification from the Arthritis Association of America/AE and FAStaff Safety Requirements/Cleaning ProtocolsAdditional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
