Lead Surgical LVT

Faithful Friends Animal Society is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Lead Surgical LVT to help lead our lifesaving surgery program in a fast-paced shelter medicine environment. This position combines advanced surgical nursing expertise with hands‑on clinical leadership, mentorship, and team development. We are seeking a licensed veterinary technician with strong anesthesia and surgical experience who is passionate about animal welfare, thrives in a collaborative setting, and can help support and elevate our surgical team. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced surgical technician who enjoys both patient care and helping develop efficient, high‑quality surgical operations. Responsibilities Surgical & Clinical Duties Prepare animals for surgery including patient assessment, induction, intubation, surgical preparation, and recovery Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures and respond appropriately to changes in patient status Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures Maintain accurate anesthesia, surgical, and treatment records Administer medications and vaccines as directed Ensure proper sterilization, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment Prepare and maintain surgical packs and treatment areas Assist with patient intake, discharge, and post‑operative client education Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient surgical environment Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory of surgical and medical supplies Leadership & Team Development Serve as the lead resource for the surgical technician team on workflows, anesthesia, surgical best practices, and patient care standards Assist with on boarding, training, mentoring, and ongoing development of surgical staff and assistants Help support a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture Assist with surgical scheduling, workflow coordination, and daily case management Collaborate with veterinarians and leadership to improve protocols, efficiency, and patient outcomes Help identify opportunities for process improvement and operational excellence within the surgery department Provide guidance and support to team members in a constructive and professional manner Qualifications Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) required Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on veterinary technician experience required Strong surgical and anesthesia experience required Experience in high‑volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine strongly preferred Prior leadership, training, or mentorship experience preferred Fear Free certification preferred Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills Must be dependable, adaptable, compassionate, and solutions‑oriented Benefits Health insurance Health savings account Paid time off Employee discount Flexible schedule Professional development assistance Tuition reimbursement Faithful Friends Animal Society is committed to creating a compassionate, team‑oriented workplace focused on lifesaving and exceptional care for animals and the people who love them. #J-18808-Ljbffr Direct Jobs
