Job Title: Early Head Start Assistant Teacher (Full Day, Full Year)

Immediate Supervisor: Early Head Start Teacher (Certified); Assistant Coordinator

Essential Requirements:

1. Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
2. Create Purchase Orders in the eFinance system and code invoices. Maintain Purchase Order Log book and work with Accounts Payable to provide accurately coded invoices and back up to include needed W-9's and Attestation Forms. Review credit card statements and provide back up for each transaction. Provide support during audits as needed. Assist and support the Leadership Team with coding invoices/receipts.
3. Provide fiscal tracking as needed or program.
4. Order and maintain office supplies to include paper products. Create and maintain periodic cost analysis on regularly purchased items for Head Start Director's review. Coordinate any Co-Op purchases with ESU #3.
5. Coordinate vehicle maintenance and manage disbursement of vehicle keys. Coordinate oil changes and other maintenance. Track mileage sheets and provide forms to the Business Office. Maintain proof of insurance in all vehicles and driver certificates.
6. Coordinate technology services with IST and CIO. Place helpdesk tickets for staff with ESU, coordinate staff appointments for needed IT support. Maintain a replacement cycle. Provide training and technical support as needed to staff. Coordinate appointments for staff badges at districts as needed.
7. Coordinate facility maintenance for the program as needed.
8. Support Head Start Director with PIR and data system management. Provide Leadership Team with support in entering information into the ChildPlus system (screenings or other documentation as needed).
9. Provide administrative support to the Head Start Director and Leadership Team as needed.
10. Maintain contract and agreement files to include Community Partnership (formal and informal). Maintain Certificates of Liabilities. Coordinate Community Partnership with community agencies. Recruit and maintain Community Partnerships. Coordinate Volunteers for the program.
11. Coordinate in-kind records and reporting to the Business Office. Report updates to the Leadership Team and staff. Provide training and technical support to staff related to in-kind.
12. Coordinate child care and catering services needed for events, Policy Council and meetings.
13. Coordinate translation and interpretation services for in-person, phone or language line services.
14. Maintain HR laserfiche for the Sarpy County Cooperative Program and submit any unemployment claims for the Cooperative.
15. Cover EHS/HS classrooms as needed in times of staff absences and/or emergency situations.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
2. Ensure compliance with grant requirements, Program Performance Standards, Nebraska Department of Education Rule 11 and Head Start policies and procedures.
3. Utilize active supervision guidelines to ensure that all necessary and reasonable precautions are taken to protect children and monitor the learning environment for health and safety.
4. Follow directions (both oral and written) in an efficient manner and assist with the preparation and supervision of various activities in the classroom, as directed by the Early Head Start teacher and/or other specialists.
5. Support the EHS teacher in organizing and creating an inviting learning environment according to ITERS and curriculum standards. Assist in the implementation of a research based curriculum adopted by SCHS/ESU #3 and support individualization and growth of all children.
6. Assist in helping children resolve conflicts and problem solve under the supervision and direction of the lead teacher.
7. Assist in implementing teaching practices that focus on English language acquisition and include steps to support the development of the home language for dual language learners.
8. Assist in authentic observation of children and utilize observational information as well as assessment data to plan and design appropriate activities for young children.
9. Assist in fostering and sustaining positive relationships with parents and caregivers and provide support for required home visits and conferences when needed.
10. Attend all professional development activities as required by SCHS.
11. Participate in health and nutrition activities to include (but not limited to) CACFP, NapSACC, family style meals.
12. Support and maintain a positive work environment through open communication and collaboration with SCHS co-workers, specialists and supervisors.
13. Maintain confidentiality regarding co-workers, agency, family and child information.
14. Other duties as assigned.
