RN-Intensive Care Unit - Cardiothoracic

Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Report to the Nurse Manager/Director, the nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties:

• Education:
  
  
  • Participates in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
  • Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
  • Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
  • Assesses the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Evaluates developmental levels of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care:
  
  
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Seeks guidance for revising patient care plans as needed.
  • Engages in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care evaluation.
  • Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  
  
  • Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex issues, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Performs bedside point of care testing as necessary for patient care plans.
  • Utilizes nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
  • Consults appropriate resources promptly regarding complex care issues and discharge planning.

Required Skills & Experience:

• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Education:

• Required: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).
