Phlebotomist, Lab, Day Shift, F/T, FTE 1Amberwell Atchison - Atchison, KS 66002OverviewPosition Type Full Time Job Shift Day Education Level High School Travel Percentage None Category LaboratoryDescriptionPhlebotomists are responsible for obtaining blood specimens and collecting nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. Phlebotomists have a strong eye for detail, excellent interpersonal skills, proficient verbal and written English skills, and the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.Responsibilities for a phlebotomist include but are not limited to:Preparing patients before drawing bloodExplaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the processVerifying patient information and labeling blood samples properlyAccurately updating patient information in the organization's databaseHelping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood drawsProcesses specimens to prepare them for laboratory testingPrepares specimens for reference laboratory dispatch and testingResolves ambiguous and/or unusual test orders by contacting the physician of the order, pathologist, nursing station, or reference laboratoryMaintains compliance with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures, and safety practices.Keeps work area neat and clean and restocks daily supplies.ABOUT AMBERWELL HEALTH:Amberwell Health is a healthcare system dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve, providing compassionate healthcare with clinical excellence.
