Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for an Operating Room position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

• Hospital Operating Room setting
• 4x10-hour AM shifts, 0630-1700, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Scrubs provided by facility

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• CST certification required (grandfathered candidates accepted)
• Active TX license required if applicable
• Knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization standards
• Knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique
• Knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures
• Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Functions in the inter-operative phase of patient care under RN direction and supervision
• Prepares operative site and maintains organized instrument tables
• Sets up operating room according to surgical procedure schedules
• Performs surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and other items
• Passes sterile supplies and equipment to surgeons and assistants during procedures
• Assists with patient draping and positioning
• Handles surgical specimens following proper protocol
• Disassembles and prepares instrumentation for decontamination after procedures
• Cleans operating room and returns equipment to storage after each case
• Follows AORN, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines for a safe work environment
• Occasional exposure to chemical or radiation hazards
• Flu vaccination mandatory with no exemptions granted
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
