Join our Enterprise Solid State Drives (eSSD) group and be part of a team committed to innovation and excellence.As a Staff Engineer, SSD Validation, you will own significant portions of the test automation infrastructure used to validate Enterprise Storage System interoperability. Working closely with test execution engineers and firmware developers, you will define automation architecture, raise the bar on test quality and efficiency, and mentor engineers across the team. This role is based in Longmont, CO, surrounded by stunning landscapes and a vibrant community.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and implement cross-platform storage APIs to control and characterize system behaviorDesign, document, and automate test cases validating SSD features, gross functions, and use casesDrive regression strategy and continuous improvement across a representative cross-section of systemsResearch, evaluate, and procure cutting-edge storage hardware platformsProvide technical direction, code review, and mentorship, partnering with firmware and product teams to align coverage with program prioritiesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience5+ years in test automation development, validation engineering, or a closely related fieldStrong Python proficiency with emphasis on object-oriented programming and abstract interfacesExperience building cross-platform infrastructure across Windows/Linux/BSD and x86/ARM, including OS APIs, process control, memory management, and device driver interactionsWorking knowledge of enterprise storage products and protocols, plus AI-assisted development tools such as TabNine or Claude CodePreferred QualificationsEstablished track record building, owning, and scaling test automation frameworksDemonstrated ability to define and execute test strategy in a fast-paced, competitive environmentExperience mentoring engineers or leading small technical effortsStrong communication skills, including conveying complex patterns through UML documentationIntense curiosity about the nature of complex computing systemsThe US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:$121,000.00 - $207,000.00 a yearAdditional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
