If you’re meticulous about rules, thrive outdoors, and like to work hands-on with heavy equipment, this role is for you.Your ImpactKeep track and roadbed assets within specification through inspection, maintenance, and repair.Execute routine and emergency work: tamping, rail replacement, rail alignment, and track panel installation.Install and renew components such as rail sections, switch points, frogs, stock rails, ties, bridge and switch timbers, tie plates, cut spikes, and fasteners.Operate and transport MOW equipment: tamping machines, on-track ballast regulator, cranes, backhoe, high-rail and other on-track vehicles.Assist fellow team members during incidents to sustain safe train movement.Safety, Compliance, and ConductPerform all duties safely, efficiently, and under applicable rules with minimal supervision.Follow Central Control instructions whenever on or near the right-of-way.Maintain qualification under MetroLink Safety Rules for Maintenance-of-Way (MOW) employees.Required QualificationsNo more than one preventable accident within the last 24 months.Pass the Metro Link Operating Rules Examination for Maintenance of Way (MOW) employees and Standard Operating Procedures; must be high-rail and flag qualified.Working knowledge of first aid and safety practices, with demonstrated application.License: Possession of a current, valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License is a requirement to hold this position and shall be acquired by the end of the qualification period.Physical capacity to lift up to 100 lbs and assist with ties, rails, and other materials over 100 lbs; capable of loading/unloading and moving heavy objects.Successful completion of the training program and post-training qualification period.Available for call-out on a 24-hour basis for critical and emergency situations.Tools & Equipment You’ll UseTamping machines and on-track ballast regulatorCranes and backhoeHigh-rail trucks and other on-track vehiclesWhat Guides Our WorkOur mission is to perform track work functions and other assigned duties safely, orderly, and productively.
