Assignment: Lunch Monitor Part time Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: CN511/178 days Dept./School: Child Nutrition/Assigned Campus Date Revised: Spring 2024

Primary Purpose

Responsible for monitoring student behavior during meal service. Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, assists with recycling, and assists with the flow of meal service. Work is performed under the general supervision of the child nutrition manager with consultation from the principal.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification

• High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience

• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
• Effective communication skills
• No experience required

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Manages students during meal service according to guidelines established by the Child nutrition department
• Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills
• Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eating assisting students as needed
• Assists with cleanliness of the cafeteria
• Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at scheduled time
• Encourage good table manners
• Participates in training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

• Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stoop, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Continual walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead reaching
• Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds)
• Work with hands in water; work around machinery with moving parts; work on slippery surfaces
• Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
