Respiratory Care Practitioner - Sharp Grossmont Hospital - Day Shift - Per Diem

Hours & Shift Details Shift Start Time: 6 AM Shift End Time: 6:30 PM AWS Hours Requirement: 12/36 - 12 Hour Shift Weekend Requirements: Every Other On-Call Required: No Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $43.650 - $56.340 - $63.100 This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement. This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 05/20/26 to 05/28/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp. What You Will Do Plans and administers assigned respiratory care functions and duties to the identified patient population across multiple clinical areas. Required Qualifications Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - The National Board of Respiratory Care - REQUIRED California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - Respiratory Care Board of CA - REQUIRED AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED Preferred Qualifications Associate's Degree in a related field 1 Year respiratory care experience ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association - PREFERRED Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - PREFERRED Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Various-Employee provides certificate - PREFERRED Essential Functions Communication: Communicates patient status, observed change and responses to appropriate member of the healthcare team. Consistently updates plan of care once per shift. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs. Attends patient care rounds. Documentation: Proficient in computer systems for data entry charges/credits. Maintains patient records as per department guidelines. Enters patient charges/credits as directed with specified time frame. Point of care documentation. Quality: Adheres to aseptic technique and universal precautions. Considers patient safety, age, cultural; psychosocial/physical needs of patients and families when providing care. Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care and answers questions. Performs and adheres to department established patient care assessment and/or patient-driven protocol. Identifies inappropriate care and follows through with appropriate recommendations. Participates in orientation of new staff/students. Time Management: Completes delegated duties within timeframes or reports to the appropriate healthcare team member when unable to complete assignment. Accepts additional assignments willingly. Adapts to changing workloads with adherence to all department rules and guidelines of care. (Answering pages timely) Organizes, prioritizes and completes assignments in timely manner including taking breaks/lunch. Provides Respiratory Care in all assigned areas and provides cross coverage when needed. Other Duties: May include with but is not limited to: General floor care and floor ventilators, adult critical intensive care, emergency department, Rapid Response Team member, assisting with bronchoscopy, bedside pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas sampling, analysis and documentation or other diagnostic testing.
