Legal Specialist Senior Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 day per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity while providing flexibility to support productivity and work‑life balance. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. Position is within Virginia. Position ends: 2026-07-11. Job Description Responsible for providing legal support for provider contract negotiations in multiple states for affiliated health plans and/or behavioral health management companies across commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage lines of business. Also support enterprise‑wide or complex projects within a recognized area of specialization. Note: Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location or an accommodation must be granted as required by law. How you will make an impact Review, analyze, and research to support the negotiations for provider contracting, under the supervision of an attorney. Draft contract templates and amendments and alternate language to provider agreements as needed. Responsible for filing of provider contract templates with state regulators. Serve as a seasoned resource and may lead and/or coach other support staff. Prepare and evaluate legal documentation to resolve problems, close transactions, and/or maintain good corporate governance. Conduct legal research and analysis and recommend appropriate course of action and next steps. Perform fact checking, gather documents, research and respond to subpoenas, record requests, and various inquiries from internal and external sources. Monitor state and federal legislation affecting the corporation and develop and/or implement recommendations relative to regulatory changes. Apply business knowledge and technical expertise to optimize solutions and improve practices. Participate in projects and may participate in negotiations and strategizing with business and staff. Enter information into appropriate databases or other document management systems. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent and a Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of legal or related experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background. Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences Provider contract experience preferred. Experience in managed care or the healthcare industry preferred. A law degree is desirable but not required. Salary The salary range for this position is $41.89/hr. – $62.83/hr.
