Lead the terminal team to maintain a high‑performance, driver‑centric environment that supports creative ideas to enhance profitability and operating efficiency. Participate in strategic planning for operations, profit & loss, asset utilization, and customer relationships, establishing and executing short‑ and long‑range plans to achieve goals. Perform financial analyses and identify opportunities for improvement, developing and implementing cost‑effective solutions. Provide leadership and development for direct and indirect employees, including: Strategic staffing model planning, hiring/termination, and performance management for all staff. Partner with stakeholders to design and implement appropriate training. Promote a safe work environment by identifying safety opportunities. Ensure compliance with policy, contract administration, and federal, state, and DOT regulations. Establish measurement and accountability standards at the terminal level, fostering competitive excellence in yard management. Monitor employee and driver performance through KPI and soft‑skill management, collaborating with HR, Safety, Orientation, and Maintenance/XRA. Collaborate with recruiting and driver development to meet hiring needs. Coordinate with stakeholders on service center projects—site construction, maintenance, relocation, or signage—to keep the terminal safe, clean, and appealing. Instill a culture of superior service for the U.S. Xpress customer base within terminal facilities and personnel. Lead teamwork and team building with other operational groups to support quality customer service and company goals. Other duties as needed. What We’re Looking For Education Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Equivalent years of experience defined as one year of professional experience per year of college requested. Experience 10+ years in Operations, including Customer Service, Fleet Management, or Load Planning. 5+ years in general leadership. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Knowledge of DOT hours of service and how they apply to drivers. Experience with XPM / QTOPS (AS400). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Customer & personal service skills and ability to build relationships. Public safety & security knowledge. Knowledge of business and management principles in strategic planning, P&L, resource allocation, HR modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications. Ability to transfer knowledge effectively. Active listening, complex problem solving, time management, active learning, oral comprehension & expression, problem sensitivity. Deductive and inductive reasoning. Self‑starter ability, ability to work in stressful situations, preferred experience in a deadline‑driven environment. Understanding of financial reports and ability to utilize data for decision making. Supervisory Responsibility : 400‑5,000 drivers, up to 50 office employees. Work Environment : This job operates in a normal professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Requirements : Ability to communicate or exchange information and to use close visual acuity to view a computer, engage in expansive reading, or prepare and analyze data, reports, and figures.
