Technical Services Addressing Manager - Department of Building Inspection (1822 PEX) Appointment Type: Permanent Exempt (PEX). This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer. What We Do: The Department of Building Inspection oversees the effective, efficient, fair, and safe enforcement of building, housing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and disability access codes for San Francisco’s more than 200,000 buildings. This position is located in the Technical Services Division and is part of the Permit Services team. Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, the Addressing Manager will oversee, plan, monitor, and manage the implementation of addressing initiatives as outlined by the inter‑departmental Address Working Group memorandum of understanding (MOU). The Addressing Manager will establish a new addressing program, align staff on procedures, resolve complex addressing functions, oversee addressing staff, streamline workflows, routing, and customer service functions. The Addressing Manager will be responsible for program improvements, ensuring timely completion of work, reporting, retroactive data entry, and data integrity of current assignments. The address manager works directly with other departments in GIS Mapping, the permitting system and leads and participates in the inter‑departmental Address Working Group as well as public and intra‑departmental communications related to program updates or changes. Coordinate program development and work collaboratively in the Inter‑Agency Addressing Working Group Develop program strategies, outline goals and ensure alignment with organizational objectives Convenge internal and external stakeholders for education, outreach, and to assess efficacy of program management and communications Determine and advocate for resources to administer the program efficiently Determine assignment of addresses within the DBI Addressing program and the City Addressing Grid Provide guidance and support to direct reports and other staff involved in the program Research and recommend effective implementation of addressing assignments Track regulatory changes and adjust policies and procedures as needed Develop protocols for proposed improvements and coordinate with partners within and outside the department to ensure alignment with the MOU Perform comparative analysis of data to determine trends and effectiveness of policies Provide updates to the Building Inspection Commission, stakeholder groups, and other interested parties Perform other related duties as necessary How to qualify Minimum qualifications include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of full‑time equivalent experience in professional‑level analytical work. A graduate (Master’s) degree that qualifies may substitute for the experience requirement. Up to two years of related experience may also substitute for the educational requirement.
