Shop Floor Manager

Standard Industrial Corp. is seeking a Shop Floor Manager to lead daily operations within our Posen manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating production activities, supporting employees, maintaining workflow, and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This is not a traditional office-based management position. Approximately 70-80% of the workday is spent on the shop floor, working directly with employees, helping remove obstacles, addressing production issues, and supporting operational needs. The Shop Floor Manager serves as the primary leader of daily shop operations and plays a key role in building a positive, accountable, and productive work environment.

The ideal candidate is a leader who earns respect through hard work, strong communication, sound decision-making, and a willingness to step in wherever needed to help the team succeed.

Key responsibilities include maintaining an active presence on the shop floor throughout the day, providing leadership, direction, and support to production employees; leading by example through professionalism, accountability, safety awareness, and a strong work ethic; coordinating labor and workflow to ensure production targets and customer commitments are achieved; fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement; and maintaining safe working conditions and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications include experience in manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, industrial operations, or production leadership preferred; previous supervisory, lead, coordinator, or management experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred; demonstrated ability to lead people, build trust, and create accountability within a team environment; strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize work and make decisions in a fast-paced production setting; willingness to work in a hands-on leadership capacity; forklift experience or willingness to be trained preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus.

Skills needed include team leadership and employee development; production coordination and scheduling; conflict resolution and employee coaching; communication and relationship building; problem-solving and decision-making; time management and organization; continuous improvement mindset; safety leadership; cross-functional collaboration; and prioritization and workflow management.

Knowledge required includes manufacturing and shop-floor operations; production scheduling and labor planning; quality standards and process controls; workplace safety practices; material flow and inventory management; equipment and production processes; employee training and performance development; production reporting and documentation; and basic computer and business systems.

Ability to implement skills and knowledge includes leading teams through direct involvement and daily floor engagement; balancing labor resources and production priorities to meet deadlines; identifying and resolving production bottlenecks quickly and effectively; building accountability while maintaining positive employee relationships; coaching employees to improve performance, skills, and confidence; communicating effectively across operations, engineering, and business teams; supporting a safe, productive, and organized work environment; and driving continuous improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and delivery performance.

Why join Standard Industrial Corp.? At Standard Industrial Corp., leadership is earned through action. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on operations, employee development, and company success. You'll work closely with a dedicated team, solve real-world manufacturing challenges, and help build an environment where employees can succeed and grow.

If you enjoy being actively involved in daily operations, developing people, and leading from the front, we encourage you to consider joining our team.

Benefits include competitive pay based on competency; 100% employer-paid health insurance and HSA for employees; flexible paid time off and holidays; 401(k) with employer matching; and discretionary bonuses.
