Primary Position Objectives


Monitor and direct students engaged in center-sponsored recreational activities on- and off-center in compliance with government and management directives. Provide direct supervision of Recreation Aides.

Annual Salary: $52,997-$52,998

• Establish and operate a Center-wide diversified recreation program

• Monitor activities for individuals and groups to include tournament competition and varsity and intramural competition for the athletic-minded students
• Provide oversight of plans for recreations activities for students not participating in athletic events
• Supervise the development of instructional programs to teach students new skills and to improve existing skills

• Monitor the scheduling and development of various clubs and special interest groups and individual activities for handicapped students
• Approve requisitions for recreational equipment, supplies and materials
• Oversee the maintenance of recreational equipment, both indoor and outdoor
• Work cooperatively with entire Center staff in the solution of students' problems
• Ensure contacts with outside sources for recreational activities are maintained

• Serve as the Center's source of information for recreational activities for students, ensuring continuous outgoing development of materials and knowledge about this part of the program
• Provide media, bulletin boards and memoranda to inform students, as well as staff, of the programs to be held at the Center
• Interview students to determine what type of recreational activities would be most suitable
• Create an environment wherein students and staff feel safe and secure
• Submit required reports to the appropriate department head

• Submit time sheets and other paperwork timely and according to center policy
• Assist and train student leaders per center policy; Work closely with the SGA program
• Assist in the management and operation of the student café
• Recognize and reinforce positive behavior with staff and students

• Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices
• Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards
• Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement
• Evaluate personnel under his/her management and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions and/or merit increases
• Assist the Center Director in meeting the goals and objectives of the Center
• Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily
• Demonstrate and abide by LifeSkills Connection's core values and operating principles
• Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, LifeSkills Connection's policies and procedures, and Center policies and procedures
• Participate in PRH mandated staff training; Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination

• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience


Minimum of one to two years related experience with youth


Education
Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field. Two years' experience in supervising recreation/non- vocational programs, including athletics, sports and crafts, music, and drama

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


Must be certified, licensed, or accredited in state of employment, or accredited by professional trade organization Valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record
