SummaryThe Senior General Ledger ("GL") Accounting Manager is a strategic leader on Workiva's General Ledger Accounting team, providing end-to-end oversight of statutory reporting across our international entities, ensuring the integrity of key general ledger areas, and developing a high-performing team. In this critical role, the Senior Manager serves as a trusted advisor to business partners, helping optimize business outcomes while ensuring accurate accounting. Reporting to the Director of General Ledger Accounting, this role leads a team of accountants, coordinates the statutory process across the office of the CAO, Legal, statutory auditors, and other third parties, delivers monthly management reporting and executive reviews for assigned areas, and supports close review, optimization, and governance. The role requires strong technical accounting acumen, people leadership, and the ability to influence across Finance and the business.What You'll DoProvide end-to-end oversight and coordination of the annual statutory reporting process across multiple international entities, including US GAAP to local GAAP adjustments, financial statements, and filingsLead and develop a team of direct reports, including full-time staff and contractors, through coaching, clear priorities, and a strong customer service focusReview month-, quarter-, and year-end close deliverables for critical balance sheet areas (debt, investments, prepaids, intangibles, and fixed assets), including account reconciliations, journal entries, and analytical reviewDeliver monthly management reporting for assigned areas, including analytics and executive review decks for Finance leadershipConclude on complex transactions under local GAAP and partner with Technical Accounting on US GAAP treatmentServe as a trusted advisor to business partners, including Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, Accounts Payable, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal, to understand new activities and provide financial guidanceDrive close optimization and strengthen close governance by evaluating manual processes and leveraging automation and AI-driven tools to reduce manual interventionCommunicate close results, critical accounting matters, and statutory reporting status to managementDevelop, maintain, and improve accounting policies and process documentationLead and support ad hoc initiatives and cross-functional projects, including system enhancements and onboarding of new entitiesWhat You'll NeedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or a related field8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including in publicly traded companies3 years of direct people management experiencePreferred QualificationsCPA or equivalent certificationPublic accounting and industry experienceOperational and technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAPExperience preparing, reviewing, or providing oversight for financial statements and statutory reports, engaging with local auditors across multiple jurisdictionsTechnical accounting experience with debt, investments, prepaids, intangibles, and fixed assetsStrong understanding of general accounting principles and internal controlsProficiency with accounting and financial systems (Sage Intacct, BlackLine, BNA, Coupa, Workday, and Workiva experience preferred)Advanced computer skills (Google and/or MS Office suites) including spreadsheet data analysisExperience in a global environmentAbility to manage multiple projects, processes, and deadlines simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlinesStrong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and drive teams to deliver high-impact resultsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and critical thinkingPositive and professional demeanor, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with team members at various levels and departmentsHigh level of integrityTravel Requirements & Working ConditionsAbility to travel up to 10% for internal events and team meetingsReliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva officeHow You'll Be RewardedSalary range in the US: $133,000.00 - $225,000.00A discretionary bonus typically paid annuallyRestricted Stock Units granted at time of hire401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits packageThe salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
