DescriptionJOB ANNOUNCEMENTAirport Regulatory Compliance ManagerCHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION CDA-Security Operations SectionNumber of Positions: 1(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)Starting Salary: BX18,$89,112.00/yearApplications for this position will be accepted from 7/29/26 until 11:59pm CDT on 8/12/26Under direction, conducts inspections, audits and/or investigations of airport security programs and facilities to ensure compliance with established Transportation Security Administration regulations, state and departmental requirements, and performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIESEnsures that airport operations, facilities and tenant activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including TSA, FAA, etc.Conducts inspections and audits of airport operations, facilities, terminals, and tenant activities to ensure compliance with 49CFR1540, 1542, and 1520, TSA security directives, etc.Investigates compliance violations, prepares reports, and recommends corrective actionsEvaluates airport events affecting security; proactively recommend processes and procedures to enhance and improve the security and compliance programsProvides technical guidance to airport divisions on regulatory interpretations and compliance strategiesAttend stakeholder meetings and provide regulatory briefings when necessary.Monitors the progress of all corrective actions taken to satisfy deficiencies noted in the TSA Annual Inspections for ORD, to ensure they are completed.Works with security representatives of various cargo facilities and fixed based operators at ORD and MDW, to ensure compliance with each Airport Security Program (ASP) and TSA regulations.Provides training and technical assistance to airport staff and tenants on regulatory requirements and best practices.Evaluate architectural drawings to ensure specific details conform to TSA security and safety regulations and requirements, and manage the construction projects impacting security posture and/or security measuresAdditional duties may be required for this positionLocation:10601 W. Higgins, Chicago, IL 60666Days: Monday-FridayHours: 8:30AM-4:30PMTHIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICEQualifications• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Aviation Management, Business or Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS five (5) years of work experience in airport operations, regulatory compliance, aviation security or a directly related fieldShould the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable:• Nine (9) years of work experience in airport operations, regulatory compliance, aviation security or a directly related field• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in Safety Management, Aviation Management, Business or Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS seven (7) years of work experience in airport operations, regulatory compliance, aviation security or a directly related field• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Safety Management, Aviation Management, Public Administration, or a directly related field, PLUS four (4) years of work experience in airport operations, regulatory compliance, aviation security or a directly related fieldPLUS• A valid State of Illinois Driver’s License is required• Must obtain Basic Airfield Driver (YELLOW) Certification within 90 days of hireDesired Skillset:• Background in 49CFR1540, 49CFR1542, and 49CFR1520• Background in compliance and performance audits • Background in construction engineering• Background in cargo operationsThe candidate selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA).SELECTION REQUIREMENTSThis position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview.
