Design & Sales Consultant

Reports to: Home Essentials Manager

Summary: The Design & Sales Consultant will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store's sales goals. The Consultant will help keep the showroom inviting to all customers, assist them in finding the perfect flooring and furniture solutions for their homes, and completely see the sale through from the start to the finish.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Actively greet and engage customers to guide them through their home furnishing and flooring needs in a professional & knowledgeable manner.
• Provide expert advice on carpet types, materials, installation processes, and maintenance.
• Educate customers on home furnishings and assist them in selecting complementary pieces.
• Close sales efficiently and accurately while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain a customer base through networking and client follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction before and after the sale.
• Maintain attractive, organized displays flooring and furnishings to promote sales.
• Assist with managing inventory levels, including receiving and restocking carpet inventory, remnants, and samples.
• Assist with pricing, tagging, promotions, and organizations of the sales floor.
• Follow up with customers regarding special orders, delivery estimates, and installations.
• Resolve client issues with Management in a timely and effective manner.
• Process customer transactions efficiently using the POS system to ensure continuity of service for the customer.
• Participate in all training, product knowledge seminars and maintain an understanding of relevant trends and product application.
• Collaborate with team members to maximize store performance and meet or exceed sales targets.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized department and work area.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Lead by example; be approachable by all associates and customers.
• Maintain intellectual curiosity; prepare and challenge yourself and your team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers, sales staff, and internal personnel.
• H.S. degree or equivalent 3-5 years' work experience.
• Prior retail and sales experience in furniture, home dcor, or interior design is preferred.
• Industry knowledge of products and materials (i.e.: carpet fibers, padding, installation methods).
• Initiative-taker with strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
• Exceptional customer service and effective dispute resolution.
• Proven experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook software.
• Must be able to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to lift and move area rugs, samples, and other merchandise (>= 50 lbs.)
• Valid MA driver's license and possess clean driving record.
• Bilingual skills are a plus (English/Spanish highly desirable).
