Commercial Kitchen Equipment Service Technician - Cold side

TriMark USA is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Service Technician – Refrigeration to support commercial kitchen equipment customers. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining commercial refrigeration systems including walk‑ins, reach‑ins, ice machines, prep tables, and cold storage equipment. Position Summary The Service Technician reports to the Service Manager Location: Austin, TX Field Based – Full Time Travel up to 25% required On Call rotation nights and weekends Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration systems (reach‑in coolers/freezers, walk‑ins, blast chillers, ice machines, prep tables, display cases, etc.) Perform start‑up of refrigeration equipment in restaurants, healthcare, education, hospitality, and institutional foodservice environments Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant system issues Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity Handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA and environmental regulations Maintain accurate service documentation, parts usage, and customer records Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair status, timelines, and recommendations Collaborate with dispatch, parts, and technical support teams to ensure timely resolution Maintain service vehicle inventory and tools Follow all safety procedures and company standards Required Qualifications 1‑2+ years of experience servicing commercial refrigeration systems Experience in commercial foodservice equipment EPA Universal Certification (required) Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, controls, and electrical systems Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical schematics Experience with common brands of commercial refrigeration equipment Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in confined or high‑temperature environments Strong problem‑solving skills and independent work ethic Preferred Qualifications CFESA certification Basic hot‑side equipment knowledge (a plus) Experience using service management software/mobile dispatch systems Core Competencies Technical troubleshooting excellence Customer‑first mindset Accountability and ownership Time management and prioritization Safety and compliance awareness Team collaboration Benefits Competitive compensation Portal to portal pay Overtime opportunities Company vehicle Company credit card for all travel expenses Company cell phone Medical, dental, vision benefits from Day One! 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Ongoing technical training and certification support – CFESP prep programs, hands‑on manufactures training Tuition reimbursement for additional certifications Career progression opportunities into a Senior Service Technician, Lead Technician, Field Supervisor, or Service Manager roles Compensation Compensation includes the posted hourly pay range.
