About the Position

Job Title: Travel RN - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in acute care hospital L&D License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN or EFM Must-Have: 1+ years of current acute care hospital L&D experience Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit has 19 patient rooms, 6 PACU rooms, and 6 triage rooms. There are 3 labor and delivery operating rooms. The staffing matrix allows for 8-10 staff on night shifts. Day shift typically has 1 charge nurse, 3 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters. Night shift typically has 1 charge nurse and 7-9 RNs. Patient ratios are 2:1, or 1:1 for complicated patients. Equipment used includes fetal heart rate monitors, fetal scalp electrodes, and electronic medical records. Typical procedures performed include vaginal deliveries and c-section deliveries. RNs will deliver care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role requires directing and coordinating all nursing care for labor and delivery patients, postpartum patients, and high-risk antepartum patients.
