Job Description
The Department of Radiology, at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas, Texas), is seeking a full-time imaging scientist with expertise in molecular imaging to expand new and ongoing synthetic biology, protein engineering, and molecular imaging development, translational research, and clinical trials. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, and passionate about solving real-world problems, and has a strong theoretical background in molecular imaging, especially in its use in medical applications. The position will focus on development of biomolecular reporters and methodologies in both basic research and clinical settings. This faculty position will be within the Research section within the Department of Radiology and will maintain close interactions with physicians and other researchers in the Department of Radiology and elsewhere in the medical center. The Department of Radiology within the UT Southwestern University Hospital and Clinics, has access to the latest clinical instrumentation, and maintains technical development research relationships with several industry partners. Investigators in the Department of Radiology have direct access to several basic science laboratories including chemistry labs, a molecular biology lab, a cell culture lab, a small animal imaging lab, and a cyclotron and radiochemistry facility. This faculty position will be in the Department of Radiology with an opportunity for a joint appointment within the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), with access to resources in the new BME facility on the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus (a joint venture with UT Dallas). This faculty member will report directly to the Vice-Chair of Research and is expected to work collaboratively with physicians and scientists in the Department. This faculty member is expected to seek extramural funding for independent research as well as participate in collaborative projects and grant applications. Candidate must have a PhD or equivalent in physics, medical physics or engineering (biomedical, electrical or mechanical) or foreign equivalent. Candidates applying at the Assistant Professor level should have a minimum of two years of post-doctoral training. Exceptional candidates can apply at the Associate Professor level. Candidates at the Associate Professor level are expected to have a strong publication record and peer reviewed funding in the areas described above. Eligibility for Texas medical licensure and its acquisition prior to the start of employment is required.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information. To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
