About the Position

AlliedTravelCareers is working with Jackson HealthPros to find a qualified Echo Tech in Portland, Maine, 04102!

Join our team as an Echo Ultrasound Tech / Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Technologist and use your expertise to operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures, and produce detailed images of the heart for interpretation by healthcare teams. This position is based in Portland, ME at a hospital and supports a busy inpatient echocardiography lab in a tertiary care, level I trauma center. You will work in a fast-paced environment performing a high volume of studies and collaborating with cardiologists, sonographers, and fellows to support diagnostic and critical care needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• National certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Minimum 5 years of echocardiography experience.
• At least 2 years of acute inpatient echocardiography experience in a Level I trauma facility.
• Proficiency performing transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), including appropriate use of 3D echo and strain imaging.
• Expertise optimizing image quality, including use of ultrasound contrast agents and advanced equipment settings.
• BLS certification.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume workflows while maintaining diagnostic quality in critical care settings.
• Commitment to adherence with ASE and IAC standards and lab protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing 7–8 echocardiograms per day in an inpatient setting.
• Prior experience participating in case reviews, feedback sessions, and educational activities with cardiology teams.

Assignment Details

• Shift hours: 06:30 AM – 05:00 PM (10-hour shifts).
• Schedule: Rotating days including rotating weekends.
• Overnight on-call requirement: 5:00 PM to 6:30 AM, required 2–3 nights per month with cardiologist approval for call-ins.
• Total hours: 40 hours per week.
• Daily workload typically 7–8 echocardiograms per day.
