Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Radiation Therapist I is a valuable member of our team, responsible for the daily operation of numerous radiation treatment machines, including documentation and billing for daily treatment activity. This full‑time staff radiation therapist administers daily treatment on Varian accelerators, simulates and schedules patients, and reports directly to the Assistant Director of Radiation Therapy. Duties Deliver prescribed therapeutic doses of radiation in accordance with physician orders. Correctly prepare, operate, and monitor radiotherapy equipment and accessories. Interpret portal vision films and on‑board imaging. Prepare immobilization devices and bolus material. Coordinate service with nursing, clerical, in‑patient transport, and physics staff. Assist in clinical instruction of students. Scheduling Ensure daily coverage of therapists on all treatment machines. Perform daily review of all new patients and cone‑down data, verify record and system. Arrange daily appointments for treatments and simulations. Qualifications Graduate of an approved program in Radiation Therapy. NYS License in Radiation Therapy. Member of ASRT and ARRT. Minimum 3 years of experience. Experience with Varian Accelerators, CT simulations, and ARIA record and verify system. Experience performing SBRT, IMRT, HDR, and SRS treatments. Salary and Benefits The salary range for this position is $97,000 – $121,000 Base. Additional compensation may include location pay and supplemental pay. The position also offers generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
