Mental Health Therapist

Position Summary: As an Adult Mental Health Therapist, you will provide comprehensive therapeutic services to adults experiencing a range of mental health issues. You will work closely with individuals to assess their needs, develop treatment plans, and implement evidence-based interventions to promote their psychological well-being and recovery. This role requires empathy, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of various therapeutic modalities tailored to adult clients. Key Responsibilities:
- Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy under clinical supervision that meets Client Care Hours (CCH), and quality requirements set by the Agency and that is within the limits of services permitted by license and scope of practice.
- Provides diagnostic assessments under clinical supervision that meet CCH's and quality requirements set by the Agency.
- Meets or exceeds standards pertaining to services provided.
- Accumulates the required number of billable hours of clinically allocated time based on Agency standards for position and profession.
- Therapist-canceled appointment rate will not exceed 10%.
- Meets or exceeds standards pertaining to assessments and documentation.
- Provides only those services authorized by Utilization Management and provides services within the authorized frequency and duration of services. Requests additional services when initial authorization has been met.
- Written assessment of an individual's history, mental status, strengths, needs, and resources including recommendations for treatment completed within 24 hours of the assessment.
- Assessment and other documentation will provide sufficient reasoning for diagnosis and the type, frequency, and duration of services provided.
- Individualized Service Plan and Discharge Criteria with specific goals and objectives that are measurable are developed with the client and signed at the time of the initiation of services and at the time of each update.
- Assessment, Individualized Service Plan, Progress Notes, and other documentation clearly identifies client's input in services by having client's and parent's/guardian's (if applicable) signatures when clinically appropriate.
- Completes progress notes at the end of each session and turns them in within 24 hours of completion.
- Notifies consumer and referral source (when applicable) prior to completion of the discharge summary and document this notification on discharge within 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of last contact.
- Develops and maintains quality, accurate clinical charts for all clients served.
- Develops and maintains positive collaboration with other social service agencies serving clients. Consult if needed.
- Has no unexcused absence from assigned clinical and administrative committee meetings and training.
- Maintains license or registration appropriate to profession and appropriate to job requirement, including appropriate amount of continuing education at all times of employment.
- Maintains agency-required annual training including client rights and grievances, safety training, infection control, and others as required by OhioMHAS, CARF, and TCN
- Remains free from citations by other providers or by clients for unethical practice and meets standard for own profession.
- Participate in weekly supervision with supervisor.
- Other clinical duties as assigned.
- Education: bachelor's degree LSW, master's degree, or psychology Ph.D.
- Experience: One year's experience in mental health services required
- Certification: Licensure required: LPCC, LISW, LPC, LSW, Counselor Trainee, Psychologist
- Other: Meets all standards and regulations of the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board of the State of Ohio (or Psychology Board). Demonstrated competencies for working with the populations served.
- Safety rules and procedures, Agency policies and procedures, local area and resources, documentation requirements, de-escalation techniques, cultural competency.
- Capacity to perform duties effectively under potential emotional stress and conflict situations.
- Proficiency in utilizing basic computer skills and office equipment for documentation and communication purposes.
- Practice of a client-focused approach, demonstrating active listening skills, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and leadership abilities.
- Willingness and physical capability to engage in activities are essential to meet the fundamental needs of individuals served. Lifting to 25 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time, writing legibly or using a computer, ability to communicate information clearly, ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities.
